Self Love

National Relaxation Day is celebrated on August 15.

Relaxation isn’t just important on National Relaxation Day.

To relax and to let off pressure is important for our wellbeing in general.

Especially after a long day at work or working from home, an exhausting meeting (in person or via video streaming), looking after kids, taking care of responsibilities at home and so much more…  we need some time to unwind.

Let’s make room in your day for some “self care – downtime – me time” . Schedule a time, mark your calendar and look forward to it.  Even 5 minutes are a good start.

Some of our ideas :

 Do nothing for 5 minutes.

:: Listen to calming music or to nature sounds, maybe you like classical music.

:: Go for a nature stroll. Preferable mornings or evenings to avoid midday sun and heat. Wear comfy clothes and shoes, maybe a hat. Bring a water bottle. Enjoy nature.

:: Read a book. Even 5 minutes a day may distract your mind from stressful life. Choose a book of your stack of unread books that you always wanted to read or ask a friend for recommendation.

:: Make a coffee or tea break in the afternoon at work or at home or where ever you might be. If you don’t like coffee or tea, drink water. Have you tried fresh fruits in water? Fill up a mug with water (flat or sparkling)add ice cubes if liked and add a hand full of fresh fruits (make sure you wash your fruits first) e.g. strawberries or a sliced lemon/a sliced lime, or slices of a cucumber, or slices of water lemons etc … add some mint if available and liked. Enjoy!

:: Do some Yoga or start taking online Yoga Classes.

:: Try some new recipes if you like to cook.

:: Call a friend who makes you laugh.

:: Coloring Books.

:: Start to paint. Take painting classes.

:: Start a journal which can be used for several things.  Write down e.g. a list of books you would like to read, or write about your nature strolls, draw a sketch of something you saw. Use the journal as a place for all things you want to write down instead of having pieces of papers everywhere.

Use the journal as your place that you would like to declutter your thoughts which may ease stress, knowing you wrote everything down.

Use your journal as your reference book.

:: Make a “to do list” . Writing down the things you need or want to do can help to keep them under control. Check off what you have accomplished and move on to the next target.

:: Eat healthy, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly.

:: Take a long warm shower or take a bath, use body products which are gentle to skin and don’t dry the skin.
